The EU Parliament has voted in favour of the controversial Copyright Directive, which is intended to update the online copyright legal frameworks. This piece of legislation is particularly criticized for the previsions of article 11 and 13, which introduce two new elements: the “link tax” - Google and other companies have to pay publisher and papers when they link and share their articles and stories; the “content and upload filter” which prevent YouTube and Facebook to share copyrighted materia. While those in favour say that the Directive will help content creators, critics suggest that this new law will have catastrophic outcomes. In any case, both parties agree that the Copyright Directive is set to reshape the Internet globally.
