The E.U. Court of Justice - addressing a specific Portuguese case - with the ruling in case C-683/17 stated that for industrial designs and models the additional protection of copyright can be granted only in special cases. As a matter of fact, the protection granted will be that provided for by the Directive (98/71/EC) on the legal protection of community designs and models.
