Articoli Correlati: EU Budget - MEPs - European Commission
The Members of the European Parliament are currently discussing on the entity of the new EU budget for the years 2021-2027, in order to ensure sums which will help to respond to the challenges that Europe faces and to deliver on Europeans’ expectations after the EU summit on 20-21 February 2020. The budget ensures the EU has the financial means to move forward with the projects that will benefit Europeans. EU funding are specifically addressed to support farmers, cities, regions, students, researchers, businesses and NGOs across Europe. The current EU long-term budget has its deadline on 31st December 2020 and consequently the European Commission drafted a new proposal in May 2018 in order to be able to provide a plan for the years from 2021 to 2027. The European Parliament discussed the Commission’s proposal in November 2018 and subsequently in October 2019 but the issue is that even MEPs are currently unable to agree on a united front so that the negotiations between the institutions cannot start.
