On April 27, 2021, the E.U. agreement with the U.K. received the green light from the European Parliament. In the new agreement, trade and investment will be based on respect for a level playing field for open and fair competition, in particular, the creation of a free trade area is envisaged in which goods originating in the respective territories can move without the application of import duties. In order not to create discontinuity with the past, regarding the movement of goods, the parties also allow themselves the possibility of free transit through their territories; in any case, customs formalities will be unavoidable, i.e. the import/export declaration and related documentation.
