Articoli Correlati: EU Parliament - Pandora Papers - investigation
On October 22nd, 2021, the EU Parliament asked for the execution of an in-depth investigation into the illegal activities revealed by the Pandora Papers taking place in EU jurisdictions. MEPs passed a resolution towards that purpose while identifying the most urgent measures to be taken at EU level in order to fill the gaps that currently allow for large-scale tax avoidance and evasion and money laundering. They ask the Commission to take legal action against EU countries that do not apply current laws correctly. In particular, they point out some current and former Prime Ministers and Ministers of Member States, whose activities emerged from the investigation into the Pandora Papers. This resolution follows the outrage expressed by Parliament in October, on the occasion of a plenary debate held two days after the publication of the first revelations of the Pandora Papers. The adopted resolution urges EU national authorities to investigate any illegal activity revealed by the Pandora Papers involving their jurisdictions and to carry out checks on all persons mentioned in this investigation.
