Articoli Correlati: EU workers - minimum wage - EU Parliament
On 25th November, 2021, MEPs decided to start talks with EU governments on a directive that may guarantee all EU workers a fair and adequate minimum wage. The proposal for a directive on a minimum wage is directed towards the establishment of basic requirements to ensure an income that allows a decent standard of living for workers and their families. The deputies propose two possibilities to achieve this goal: a legal minimum wage or the use of the instrument of collective bargaining between workers and their employers. Moreover, Parliament wants to strengthen and extend the coverage of collective bargaining by obliging EU countries with less than 80% of workers covered by these agreements to take effective measures to promote this tool. It is interesting to notice that it had to be added a vote on the mandate, since more than 71 members opposed the decision.
