Articoli Correlati: EU Parliament - DMA - negotiations

The EU Parliament decided it was time to start negotiations with EU governments on the rules that establish what large online platforms can do and not do in the EU. The draft law on digital markets (DMA) prohibits certain practices used by large platforms that act as gatekeepers and allows the Commission to carry out market surveys and to sanction non-compliant behavior. The proposed regulation will apply to major companies providing so-called “core platform services”, which are considered more prone to resorting to unfair commercial practices. These include online brokerage services, social networks, search engines, operating systems, online advertising, cloud computing and video sharing services. All services that, on the basis of predefined criteria, can be defined as gatekeepers. MEPs also included, compared to the original proposal, browsers, virtual assistants and smart TVs within the scope of the DMA.
