Articoli Correlati: EU Parliament - workplace safety - reprotoxic substances

On February 17th, 2022, the EU Parliament gave the final green light to update EU rules to limit workers’ exposure to carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic substances, by approving the informal agreement reached in December 2021 with EU governments. This update of the EU law aims to strengthen the protection of workers against carcinogens and other dangerous substances, by establishing exposure limits in the workplace throughout the Union. MEPs have obtained for the first time the inclusion of reprotoxic substances which are harmful to reproduction and can cause reduced fertility or infertility. The negotiators for the EU Parliament also agreed that health professionals dealing with Hazardous Medicinal Products (HMPs), half of which are reprotoxic, will need to receive adequate training to handle these medicines safely. In the text, the Commission is also asked to develop a definition and to establish an indicative list of dangerous medicines and guidelines on the preparation, administration and disposal of these substances, in particular for hospitals, by the end of 2022.
