On 30 April 2022, the European Commission presented a new proposal on digital data management. This is the Data Act, a Regulation applicable to both manufacturers of connected devices and suppliers of related services, whose main purpose is to create a uniform and shared strategy at European level on digital data, going beyond the limit of only “personal data” imposed by the General Data Protection Regulation. The most important novelty of the Data Act is data portability, which is extended, unlike the GDPR, which limited it to the single category of personal data, to any type of data developed by devices and solutions.
