On 31 May 2022, the European Commission launched an in-depth investigation to assess whether the public support that the Czech Republic intends to grant to digital terrestrial television ("DTT") operators is in line with EU aid rules of state. The beneficiaries of the measure are the Czech public service broadcaster, Česká televize, and two private DTT operators, České Radiokomunikace and Digital Broadcasting. By decision of the European Parliament and of the Council, Member States by 30 June 2020 (or up to two years later if duly justified) allow the use of the 700 MHz frequency band for terrestrial systems that can provide broadband services without wires.
