In a case initiated on 1st March 2022 that is to be ruled on by 1st August 2022 concerning storage of data performed by the State, regarding the Punishment Register Law, the Constitutional Court has been asked to rule whether a particular provision of the Punishment Register Law is compliant with the right to respect for private life. In 2021, in a similar judgement regarding the Latvian Road Traffic Law, the Constitutional Court ruled that the Latvian legislation in respect to processing of driver’s data, does not comply with the right to respect for private life.
