Articoli Correlati: WTO - Ireland - developing and least-developed countries
On August 11th, 2022, it emerged that Ireland will donate a total amount of EUR 400,000 to programs within the WTO for developing and least-developed countries in order that they may ameliorate their trade know-how and better participate to global trade. Specifically, the sum of EUR 200,000 will be destined to the Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF) that aims at helping and finance projects in developing countries to support on one hand farmers, processors, exporters and on the other hand governments comply with international standards. The residual sum of 200,000 is going to be donated to the French and Irish Mission Internship Programme (FIMIP) which has the objective to help others to understand and participate to the WTO work and standards. WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said: “The continuous generosity of Ireland will help support multilateral trade negotiations by providing developing and LDC members with the necessary tools to participate fully in the trading system. Strengthening trade-related capacity in beneficiary countries where government officials can develop their expertise on WTO activities will benefit the whole membership.”
