On 30 September 2022, following two referral orders from the court of Naples, the question of legitimacy of the ten-year residence in Italy for the purpose of granting citizenship income was examined by the E.U. Court of Justice. More precisely, the question is whether or not the long-term residence permit corresponds to the ten-year requirement and whether this requirement complies with the letter of the European Directive for which Member States can limit equal treatment.
