Articoli Correlati: Flight - delay - compensation
On 6 October 2022, the EU Court, with the sentence on case C-436/21 clarified that the purchase of a flight that includes stopovers with a change of plane and company does not lead to a weakening of passenger protections for delays of connecting flights booked with a single ticket. The airline of the connecting flight - forming part of a single booking - is required to compensate the passenger for the delay even if it is a different operator from the one that made the first leg. In the specific case, the EU Court responds to the preliminary reference of the German judge by stating that the American airline that operated the two connecting flights, following the first leg covered by a German airline, was required to indemnify the passenger who with a single ticket had purchased the three connecting flights.
